Panic, 2019.

Oil on Canvas, 36 inch * 48 inch with depth 1.5 inch

Enjoy the poem below as you view this piece of Art “Panic, 2019”.

Panic

Where to go?

It is not over.

Do I want to start over?

I give my warning.

No one likes what I say and have said.

Yet,

the liking of my word is irrelevant.

Acting upon my warning is necessary to stop it from becoming curses.

Yellow Card, only!

Caution is needed your attention, Panic!

A man in blue and black holding a yellow card stands at the bottom of the painting, while his shadow (with the use of my signature in red) is in his reflection on the right lower area.

A woman’s face with light pink long hair locates on the left middle region having various windows or doors in yellow color. A crescent shaped yellow moon becomes part of the woman’s hair at the center. On the left, at the edge of the lower crescent shaped moon, there is a man with purple top and dark blue bottom trying to reach the moon through the windows. He is standing on the piano keys as if he is trying to make sound notes reaching the woman who is also the moon.

Within the painting, there is a movement of a fox, which is known for its sneaky and clever personality. The fox’s eye moves from the left to the right upper top.

This piece of artwork “Panic” is created under the pressure of Artist W not knowing what to do in her personal relationship with her lover at the time. She is in doubts whether to give her lover a second chance to reconcile.

It suggests the internal tension, confusion and struggles within Artist W. The appearance of fox in this painting serves the purpose to reassure Artist W that she has the wit to move forward with her decision. The man holding the yellow card is interpreted as her lover at the time, when Artist W gives him a warning which is the yellow card in the painting.

It is an intriguing piece of art. May you find yourself experience the panic motion in an artistic way as you read the poem and enjoy the art.

(A secret of Artist W:

When Artist W was little and growing up, her dad has always reminded her to hide her “fox’s Tail”. In Chinese Culture, fox is being depicted as extremely keen, and smart creature.

Hiding its tail, most often means to conceal agenda and talent.

So, one can live in peace humbly.)
